University Art Gallery
The University Art Gallery is the major repository of art at the University of Pittsburgh, with a collection of 3,000 objects from around the world that includes some valuable holdings in American painting and old master prints. The gallery is a unique space that has served as a laboratory for pedagogical and scholarly initiatives across departments. The gallery showcases the work of the Studio Art Department, museum studies courses in the history of art, and special exhibitions on a variety of themes from contemporary Chinese art to Pittsburgh’s changing urban landscape.
The UAG is closed for the summer and will reopen with a Studio Art faculty exhibition in Fall 2011; check the website for updates.

Visual Media Workshop
More than just a digital slide library, the Visual Media Workshop is intended to be a place where faculty and students can work to make the multimedia presentation of their academic work shine. The Workshop maintains a world-class collection of visual materials that support the expansive teaching and research needs of the Pitt community, while also promoting the investigation and invention of new tools and new ways of thinking about the place of images.
