Graduate Students Awarded Smithsonian American Art Museum Fellowships

Rebecca Giordano and Katie Loney have received Predoctoral Fellowships from the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) for 2020-1. SAAM offers annual research fellowships in the art and visual culture of the United States, the oldest, largest, and premier fellowship program in American art.

Rebecca has received the Patricia and Philip Frost Predoctoral Fellowship for her project entitled ‘Muralism, Racial Discourse, and Cultural Anthropology in US Black Art, 1936–1955.’ Katie has received the Wyeth Foundation Predoctoral Fellow for her project entitled ‘Lockwood de Forest, The Ahmedabad Wood Carving Company, and the Global Circulation of Luxury Goods.’ To learn more about their projects visit the Smithsonian American Art Museum website.
