Television as Material: The GALA Committee Intervention in Melrose Place

In the mid-1990s, hidden among the frames of the popular primetime television soap opera Melrose Place was a large-scale conceptual art project unlike any other. In this talk, Meghan will examine the televised art project In the Name of the Place created by the unlikely collaboration between artists, art students, and television producers which came to be known as the GALA Committee.
