Representations of the Lower Hill District from the Pittsburgh City Photographer - Colloquium

Wednesday, September 15, 2021 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Speaker: Kale Doyen

Representations of the Lower Hill District from the Pittsburgh City Photographer is a virtual exhibition developed and curated by incoming PhD student Kale for her summer internship with ULS Digital Scholarship Services. The exhibition features photographs from the Pittsburgh City Photographer Collection geotagged on digital redlining and redevelopment maps of the area. With images ranging from the 1910s to the 1950s, the exhibition recovers the Lower Hill's vibrant street life and grapples with the visual history of the neighborhood's landscape representations. This colloquium will offer a virtual walk-through of the exhibition and relay Kale's curatorial process.
