Reading and Discussion Group

Wednesday, March 20, 2019 - 10:00am to 11:30am

Frick Fine Arts Building, Library Annex

Pitt's Center for African American Poetry and Poetics (CAAPP) and Pittsburgh Arts & Lectures are hosting a conversation between renowned poet Claudia Rankine and contemporary artist Carrie Mae Weems on Thursday, March 21 at 7pm in the Carnegie Library Lecture Hall.

In preparation for this event, HAA's Identity Constellation will host a reading and discussion group on Wednesday, March 20 from 10-11:30am in the Frick Fine Arts Library Annex, to discuss Rankine's award-winning book of poetry, Citizen: An American Lyric, and Weems's visual art. We have assembled a Box folder of essays and online resources about Rankine's and Weems's work, which participants are encouraged to peruse in advance of the meeting to the extent they are able to do so.
