History of Art and Architecture

Oral History Methods and Resources for the History of Art & Architecture - Colloquium

Wednesday, November 4, 2020 - 12:00pm

Speaker: Mari Carmen Barrios Giordano

This colloquium presentation draws on my recent training—supported by HAA—in oral history. I will be speaking about oral history resources available for art & architectural historians, including archives, transcripts, and newly digitized interviews in major repositories, as well as transferrable oral history research methods, such as research ethics, project management, and narration. I will cover the state of the field of oral history broadly, address points of overlap with art history and architectural studies, and discus opportunities for training and engagement with the field.
