Prof. Huey Copeland, Dept of Art History at Northwestern, is an art historian, critic, and sometime curator who is the author of Bound to Appear: Art, Slavery, and the Site of Blackness in Multicultural America (UC Press, 2013), about four contemporary African American artists. He has published widely in a variety of literary reviews, art-critical publications, and academic journals, much of it on the issue of slavery and its aftermath in contemporary art. He will be discussing selections from his book and one additional essay, in a seminar-type format.
