Co-sponsored by the Interior Architecture and Landscape Architecture programs at Chatham College.
Michele Adams is Principal Engineer in the award-winning West Chester firm of Cahill Associates, an environmental consulting firm specializing in storm water management and sustainable site design.
Marijke Hecht is executive director of the Nine Mile Run Watershed Association in Pittsburgh's east end, a nonprofit organization working to "transform our urban watershed one resident, one home, and one neighborhood at a time."
The speakers will discuss the innovative design efforts underway to create a new gateway into Frick Park at Braddock Avenue where the Nine Mile Run stream emerges from a sewer system into a restored steam bank. The project offers both a practical demonstration site for improving urban stormwater management as well as an imaginative space to reconnect city dwellers with the underlying ecology of water systems all around them.
