2006-2007
- Cristina Albu published "Anthony Caro's Déjeuner sur l'herbe II: inside and outside the Frame of Picturality" in Kritikos Journal of Postmodern Cultural Sound, Text and Image, Volume 3, December 2006. Read online.
Cristina also published "The Indexicality of the Triptych Video Constructions in Isaac Julien's True North and Fantôme Afrique" in Veit Görner and Eveline Bernasconi ed., Isaac Julien. True North-Fantome Afrique (Ostfildern-Ruit: Hatje Cantz Publishers, 2006) - Kate Dimitrova spent two years in Paris on a predoctoral fellowship from the Kress Foundation. She reviewed Laura Weigert's Weaving Sacred Stories: French Choir Tapestries and the Performance of Clerical Identity (Cornell University Press, Ithaca, 2004) in "Studies in Iconography 27" (2006).
- Marion Dolan received a research grant to travel to Spain from the Program for Cultural Cooperation between Spanish Ministry of Culture and United States Universities.
- Julia Finch's essay titled "Women and Books: Reading as Ritualized Performance in Medieval Visual Culture," was published in December 2006 in a volume called Visualizing Ritual: Critical Analysis of Art and Ritual Practice, ed. Julia Kim Werts. Published by Cambridge Scholars Press, Ltd.
- Kristen Harkness published a translation of a bilingual exhibition catalog (Gender Aspects of the Visual Arts of Northern and Central Russia) in Russian.
- Yuki Morishima received the Tamara Horowitz Graduate Paper Prize for her MA thesis.
- Rebekah Perry was awarded first prize for paper session A at the University of Pittsburgh Grad Expo for her paper "Plague, Piety, and Portraiture: Giorgione's Boy with an Arrow and the Renaissance Tradition of St. Sebastian Iconography."
- Miguel Rojas-Sotelo published "Our Space is Our Time: preliminary report on Latin American new artistic practices" in Disfagia (online journal). Read online.
- Mandy Jui-man Wu received a grant for summer travel from the Metropolitan Center for Far Eastern Art Studies.
2005-2006
- April Eisman published an article in Yishu, Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, vol. 5 no. 1, Spring/March 2006 titled "Playing with the Political: Feng Mengbo and 'Streetfighter IV'"
April also published an article, "Eine 'US-Amerikanische' Sicht auf Bernhard Heisig" in Gestern und in dieser Zeit -- Bernhard Heisig zum Achzigsten, 2005 - Gerald Hartnett won Pitt's Film Studies prize for best graduate student essay for his paper, "On the Origins of Détournment: Guy Debords Historical Menagerie, 1954-1956.
- Kathy Johnston-Keane presented at the Middle Atlantic Symposium in the History of Art "Caravaggio's Theaters of Memory: The Coutner-Reformation, Early Italian Drama, and the Visual Arts," March-April 2006.
- Holly Paradis published an article "Le Suicidé:" Édouard Manet’s Modern Crucifixion" in PsyArt - an online journal for the psychological study of the arts.
