"Designing a Grad Seminar for the Constellations: A Case Study in Progress"

Kirk Savage, Professor, History of Art and Architecture

Constellations: Agency, Mobility/Exchange, Identity

This will be an informal colloquium on pedagogy directed at our constellations.  It comes out of my experience designing my topics seminar ("The Living and the Dead") with the explicit goal of engaging one or more constellations.  The course is cross-listed with Cultural Studies and has several students from outside the department, particularly Anthropology.  I will talk briefly about the challenges involved in designing the syllabus and in trying to follow through in the actual practice of the classroom.  Since the course is offered this semester the results are not yet in, but the advantage is that I still have time to incorporate your feedback into the course as we move forward this semester.

Review the syllabus so that you can get acquainted with the course before the colloquium meets.
